A field day will be held on methods for restoring biodiversity in permanent grasslands
On June 19 at 10:00 a.m., a field day on methods for restoring biodiversity in perennial grasslands will be held at the LLKC Training and Demonstration Center “Lielozoli” in Slampe parish, Tukums region.
To demonstrate and evaluate methods for restoring the biodiversity of permanent grasslands, the Latvian Rural Consultation and Education Center, in cooperation with the Latvian Foundation for Nature, the Latvian Rural Development Center Training and Demonstration Center "Lielozoli", the Latvian Farmers' Federation, and Daugavpils University, invite you to attend a field day.
Field Day will be held June 19 at 10:00 In Slampe parish, Tukums region, at the LLKC Training and Demonstration Center “Lielozoli”.
For the third year in a row, a demonstration of biodiversity restoration methods is taking place at the LLKC Training and Demonstration Center “Lielozoli”. Information about the event “Support for demonstration events and information for events” will be provided by Ilze Skudra, assistant head of the LLKC crop production department. Sarma Rotberga, project manager of the LLKC Tukums consulting office, will introduce the progress of the demonstration “Demonstration of biodiversity restoration methods in permanent grasslands”. Sanita Matule and Indulis Skrebelis, owners of the “Vidnieki” farm in Smārde parish, Tukums region, will talk about their experience in managing natural grasslands and the obtained “Natural grassland product” label. In turn, Baiba Strazdiņa, an expert from the Latvian Foundation for Nature, will share her practical experience in restoring biologically valuable grasslands – cutting down bushes, milling soil, reducing fertility, based on the project GrassLIFE experience gained. Certified grassland expert of the Nature Conservation Board, expert of the Latvian Nature Fund, Mg. agr. Rūta Sniedze-Kretalova will provide an assessment of biodiversity restoration methods in permanent grasslands. At the end of the field day, we will go to see the demonstration field and visually assess the biodiversity in permanent grasslands.
