A meeting of Baltic farmers will be held to discuss future joint activities

Tomorrow, October 9, a meeting of Baltic farmers' organizations will be held at the Ministry of Agriculture, where decisions will be made on future joint activities in the fight for fair European Union (EU) direct payments to the Baltic States.

The meeting will be attended by representatives from all three Latvian farmers' organizations – the Latvian Farmers' Association, the Farmers' Organizations Cooperation Council, and the Association "Farmers' Parliament". The other Baltic states will be represented by farmers from the Lithuanian Chamber of Agriculture, the Lithuanian Farmers' Union, the Lithuanian Agricultural Cooperatives Association "Kooperacijos kelias" and the Estonian Farmers' Federation. A representative of the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce will also join the meeting electronically via Skype.

As we have previously informed, Latvian farmers' organizations have agreed on a protest action – the Baltic CAP tractor, which would travel the Tallinn-Brussels route in November, to reach its destination before the European Council on the 22nd-23rd. We are determined to fully agree on the tractor, its welcoming events in all three Baltic countries, as well as to plan other actions in a joint “brainstorm” until a final decision is made.
