A seminar was held: “Latest insights into manure management and its value”
On January 23, the association “Farmers' Council” in cooperation with the State Plant Protection Service organized a seminar: “Latest insights into manure management and its value” at the Ozolnieki People's House.
The seminar was opened and informed about the activities of the MANURE STANDARDS project, the first real and expected benefits, by Skaidrīte Rulle, Director of the Agrochemistry Department of the Agricultural Agricultural Research Institute. In the continuation of the seminar, the chief expert of the Agricultural Agricultural Research Institute, Lauris Leitāns, informed about the results of testing manure samples, calculations and comparison with regulatory standards., as well as explained how to properly take manure samples and a video was shown. The first part of the seminar was concluded by LLU prof., Dr.habil. Aldis Kārkliņš with presentation: Potential losses of plant nutrients from manure.
In the second part of the seminar, Skaidrīte Rulle spoke about the regulatory requirements for the use of manure and their implementation in 2018. Next, experts from the association “Farmers' Council” Iveta Grudovska and Valters Zelčs presented the latest developments in the GreenAgri and Baltic Slurry Acidification projects.
Director of the LLKC Kaspars Žūriņš informed about the situation with organic fertilizer management in Latvia, while Jānis Kažotnieks, Head of the Engineering Department of the Latvian Agricultural Research Centre, evaluated the most suitable technologies for spreading manure.
