Agrees to consider the issue of maintaining subsidies for farmers

Today we met with Prime Minister Laimdota Straujums and the Green and Farmers' Union and agreed that the issue of maintaining subsidies for farmers will be considered at a government meeting until the 12th Saeima elections.

The information report, which includes farmers' demands for the preservation of state subsidies in the amount of more than 50 million euros in the next planning period, will be considered after it is submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by the Ministry of Agriculture, Straujuma indicated. Today, the Prime Minister expressed the opinion that she does not see any problems in discussing the issue of 50 million euros in subsidies. She explained that the failure to consider this issue at the September 9 meeting should be assessed as a technical problem.
