Agricultural associations will submit their request to the Minister of the Ministry of Rural Development and Rural Development for dialogue, asking to stop the division of Latvian farmers

On Wednesday, June 30, at 08:15, seven farmers' associations with a mandate from almost 10,000 farmers, forest owners and farms will submit their request for dialogue to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MARAM) Artūrs Tomas Plešs, demanding an apology from the minister and asking him to stop dividing Latvian farmers.

Maira Dzelzkalēja-Burmistre, Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of the Association “Farmers' Council”: “The events of recent months have marked a very negative trend – instead of supporting Latvia’s development and agriculture, which is an important sector for the entire national economy, the Minister, with the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund (LVAF) he heads, has begun to spread hateful, one-sided, socially divisive, and also blatantly false information about farmers working in Latvia. Our goal is to start a meaningful and constructive dialogue aimed at promoting the coexistence and development of all types of working agriculture, not opposing them. Of course, we also hope for a respectful attitude, in which an apology to Latvian farmers would be self-evident and an act worthy of the Minister’s position. It is clear that changes must be made to the conditions for granting LVAF funding so that scientific institutes, universities, and industry representatives are also invited to develop media content.”

In the prepared request to the Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Rural Development and Rural Development, a number of organizations have united – the “Farmers' Council”, the “Latvian Forest Owners' Association”, the “Latvian Agricultural Cooperative Association”, the “Latvian Young Farmers' Club”, the “Cooperation Council of Agricultural Organizations”, and the “Farmers' Association”, which in total unite almost 10,000 farmers and forest owners who manage approximately 701,300 hectares of agricultural and forestry land in Latvia.

The claim will be submitted on June 30, from 08:15 to 09:15, at the Ministry of Regional Development and Regional Development, Peldu Street 25, with the participation of organization leaders.
