Congress of the Association "Farmers' Assembly" 2023

On March 3, the Bulduri Technical School will host the ''Farmers'' Congress, where we will introduce the organization's members to the work done in the past year, as well as the priorities for the coming year. This year, the most important topics of discussion will be the "Green Course" and the near future in agriculture, as well as a discussion about Latvian cattle and the launch of the "Save the Meadow" campaign.

In the first part of the congress, the board of the "Farmers' Council" will report on its achievements in 2022 and present the work program for 2023, as well as elections for the board and the chairman of the board. The Minister of Agriculture Didzis Šmits will address those present at the congress.

In the second part of the congress, Minister of Agriculture Didzis Šmits, Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Māris Sprindžuks, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Climate and Energy Kārlis Šadurskis, and Chairman of the Board of the "Farmers' Parliament" Juris Lazdiņš will talk about the near future of agriculture and the "green" winds from Europe in the discussion "Green Course - Where is it Leading Us?"

The discussion “Cattle in the Meadows of Latvia” will continue, in which the leading researcher of the Baltic Studies Centre Miķelis Grīviņš, the owner of SIA “Mikaitas” Aija Šneidere, the head of the LDF Meadows product brand Inga Muižniece, the livestock expert of the Latvian Agricultural Society and the chairman of the board of the “Meat Cattle Breeders’ Association” Raimonds Jakovickis will discuss the impact of the Latvian cattle sector on the climate and environment. The campaign “Save the Meadow” will be launched at the end, which aims to draw public attention to the preservation of the biodiversity of Latvian meadows.
