Baltic farmers will discuss further activities in the fight for fair EU direct payments
On Monday, December 17, a meeting of representatives of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian farmer organizations will take place in Valgunde parish, Jelgava region, during which it is planned to look back on what has been accomplished this year, as well as jointly agree on future activities in the first quarter of 2013 in order to continue the joint fight for fair EU direct payments.
The event will be attended by representatives from all major organizations in the Baltic States – the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce, the Estonian Central Farmers' Union, the Latvian Association of Agricultural Cooperatives, the Latvian Farmers' Federation, the Association of Agricultural Statutory Societies, the Cooperation Council of Farmers' Organizations, the Farmers' Saeima, the Lithuanian Chamber of Agriculture and the Lithuanian Farmers' Union.
The agenda of the meeting includes issues regarding the evaluation of what has been done so far, as well as future protest activities, during which EU institutions and heads of state will continue to consider the issue of the EU's multiannual budget for 2014-2020, including the equalization of direct payments.
