Clarification on vegetable yields

Yesterday, on September 3, the opinion of the "Farmers' Parliament" about a good harvest of potatoes, cabbage, carrots and beets published has caused a slight surprise in society, so a small clarification!

Edīte Strazdiņa, member of the board of the association “Zemnieku saeima” and chairwoman of the KS “Mūsmāju dārzenie”: "Although Latvia is relatively small, weather conditions vary greatly across regions, which directly affects vegetable vegetation throughout the summer and the harvest in the fall. This year, everything indicated that there would be a good harvest of potatoes, cabbage, carrots and beets, however, the floods in Latgale and part of Vidzeme in recent weeks have also damaged vegetable fields. The fields are flooded, rot has been observed in places, the quality of vegetables is decreasing every day and, if the rain does not stop, it will be problematic to harvest the crop from the fields at all. The opposite situation is in Kurzeme and Zemgale, where there is a drought and vegetables need rain to grow. It has been raining in Kurzeme and Zemgale in recent days."
