Dairy producers will be paid 7.6 million euros in breeding support
On Tuesday, August 18, the government supported the Ministry of Agriculture's (MA) proposal to allocate 7.6 million euros to dairy producers to support breeding work. This is provided for by amendments prepared by the MA and supported by the government to the regulations that determine the procedure for granting state support for evaluating productivity data of dairy cows of dairy breeds.
Changes in the procedure for granting state aid provide for the amount of support payment required for breeding work – 7.6 million euros, to ensure the service of determining and evaluating productivity data of dairy cows of dairy breeds. State aid will allow maintaining the volume of production and ensure the preservation of high-quality dairy cows of dairy breeds in the breeding nucleus of the herd. The aid is planned to be paid in September 2015.
The support is intended for primary milk producers who regularly deliver milk for processing. The support allocation procedure also specifies a differentiation in the breeding payment – a one-time payment of 50 euros is provided for cows with a milk yield of up to 6999 kg, colostrum and cows with an as yet undetermined productivity, but for high-yielding cows – 60 or 72 euros.
Changes to the procedure for granting state aid will come into force after their publication on the official publication "Latvijas Vēstnesis" website www.vestnesis.lv.
