Dairy farmers will receive an advance payment of 7.9 million euros

The government today, November 3, supported the allocation of 7,993,480 euros to the dairy industry for breeding and the preservation of high-value herds.

The support will cover up to 70% of the costs associated with productivity control tests for dairy cows.

This is provided for by the amendments approved by the government to the Cabinet of Ministers' regulations "Procedure for granting state support for evaluating productivity data of dairy cows of dairy breeds". They will come into force after their publication in the official publication "Latvijas Vēstnesis".

Also, in order to cover the losses caused to dairy farmers and allow them to maintain the volume of production, while at the same time preventing the culling of high-value dairy breeds of dairy cows in the herd's breeding nucleus, today the government took note of the informative report "On losses in the dairy sector" prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture.
