EU emergency aid is being paid for lost winter crops
On August 23, the Rural Support Service begins disbursing emergency support granted by the European Union to farmers for winter crops not sown or lost due to floods and rains between August and October 2017, thus partially compensating for economic losses.
The total amount allocated for emergency support is 3.46 million euros. It is being paid to 2,224 clients, the support rate per hectare is 30.56 euros.
Farmers applied for emergency support in the RSS Electronic Application System at the same time as submitting applications for area payments. Farmers provided information about the winter crop sowing area plan for the 2018 harvest: the winter crop area sown in the fall of 2017, where it was planned to harvest in 2018, and the planned winter crop area that was sown with winter crops, but where the crops were lost or which could not be sown due to floods, heavy rains or excessive humidity. To receive support, the reduction in winter crops on the farm had to be at least 30% of the farmer's total winter crop area in 2017.
