Experience trip to Estonia

From 12 to 14 October, the working group of the Farmers' Council traveled to Estonia as part of the BreedExpo project. During the trip, we visited the organic farm "Pajumäe", which is located in the green Mulgimaa and manages more than 500 ha, is engaged in organic dairy farming, and supplies the yogurt, cottage cheese and cottage cheese creams produced on the farm to supermarket chains. The Kõpu agricultural cooperative also shared its experience in dairy cattle breeding and milk production.

Meanwhile, on October 13, the closing conference of the BreedExpo project “Export of breeding animals – cooperation opportunities and challenges for farmers” was held at the Estonian National Museum in Tartu. As part of the conference, Kaspars Ādams, a member of the board of the Farmers' Assembly, presented Latvia's experience, as well as future prospects for animal exports to the EU and third countries. Together with project partners from Estonia and Finland, we are introducing livestock farmers from Georgia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine to the cattle sector and export opportunities of our countries.

On the final day, the project working group visited the Tulevik farm, which breeds beef cattle, more specifically Charolais cattle.
