Extended deadline for mowing and harvesting lawns

Weather conditions in the spring and summer of 2017 have so far been outside the usual norms, which has caused difficulties for some farmers, especially those involved in livestock farming, to mow and harvest hay or grass for animal feed.

August 15 is set as the date by which grassland must be grazed or mowed and harvested in order to receive full EU area payments - the single area payment, the payment for agricultural practices beneficial to the climate and the environment or "greening" payment, the small farmers scheme payment, the payment for organic farming, the payment for areas with natural or other specific constraints.

Taking into account the adverse weather conditions, the Ministry of Agriculture has also provided farmers who use grasslands for animal feed with the opportunity to mow and harvest grasslands that will not be possible to mow and harvest by August 15 due to frequent rainfall and high humidity this year.
