Farmers' Parliament signs memorandums of cooperation with political parties ahead of the 12th Saeima elections
Signing memorandums between the Farmers' Assembly and political parties has become an integral part of the Farmers' Assembly's work before each election! This time too, we addressed several leading parties with whom memorandums of cooperation were signed, which include issues important to farmers.
The memorandums provide for the promotion of agricultural and rural development in Latvia, thereby ensuring jobs for local residents and promoting the improvement of the business environment in rural regions of Latvia, preserving Latvian agricultural land in the hands of local agricultural producers, and resolving other sectoral issues.
By signing the memorandums of cooperation, the parties agree that the interests of Latvian farmers require high-quality representation both at the local level in the Saeima, the Cabinet of Ministers and local governments, as well as at the European Union level, in order to ensure both local support for Latvian farmers and fairer competition among European Union farmers. The parties that signed the agreement also believe that for effective rural development, it is necessary to implement regional development programs that would ensure state and European Union support for the arrangement of infrastructure and help achieve a gradual equalization of differences in living standards.
During these weeks, meetings and signing of memorandums have taken place with the following parties: "Unity", National Alliance "For All Latvia!" - "Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK", "Harmony", "From the Heart of Latvia", "United Latvia", "For the Development of Latvia". Next week, a cooperation memorandum is planned to be signed with the Green and Farmers' Union. Juris Lazdiņš, Maira Dzelzkalēja and Mārtiņš Trons participated in the meetings from the Farmers' Saeima.
