The Farmers' Council invites farmers to a meeting in Vidzeme!

On Friday, March 21, the Kocēni Culture House will host a meeting of the association "Farmers' Council" with farmers to jointly discuss current issues in agriculture, inform about the challenges in the sector in 2014 and beyond, as well as about involvement in influencing and making decisions.

 

As Ieva Alpa-Eizenberga, a member of the board of the "Farmers' Council" and the owner of the "Robežnieki" farm, from Salacgrīva municipality, admits: "In our organization, the opinion and issues of each member are important, which determine our agenda. Such meetings with farmers and exchange of opinions help to more accurately represent the interests of members in the Ministry of Agriculture and other institutions, so that farming "The members would do even better and the many laws, regulations, and recommendations would be a help, not an obstacle, in our work. We also need to understand that only together can we achieve more and more, so we encourage you to be active and participate."

 

Mareks Bērziņš, member of the board of the association “Zemnieku saeima” and owner of the “Lojas” farm, from Mazsalaca region: "Small and medium-sized farms are very active in Vidzeme. Decisions will be made soon that will affect their operations, so we initiated this meeting to hear the opinions of Vidzeme farmers and represent them more constructively in the ministry."

The organization's management will introduce farmers to the latest developments in agriculture and inform them about direct payments, greening and integrated crop production requirements, conditions for receiving less-favoured areas and agri-environmental support, modernization and infrastructure support measures, milk quota issues, etc. They will also jointly discuss issues relevant to farmers so that they can be represented and resolved more constructively in the ministry and other institutions related to agriculture.
