From June 1, 2014, seasonal agricultural workers will be able to voluntarily join social insurance
From 1 June 2014, seasonal agricultural workers' income tax payers will be able to voluntarily join the state social pension insurance. This will be possible in a situation where seasonal farmers do not simultaneously work for another employer or are not self-employed.
.
The above is provided for in the amendments approved by the government on Tuesday, May 20, to the Cabinet of Ministers. Regulations on voluntary participation in state social insurance.
.
Likewise, from now on, a voluntarily insured person will not have to notify the State Social Insurance Agency (VSAA) if he or she acquires the status of a socially insured person. In turn, the spouse of a self-employed person will not have to notify of divorce, loss of the spouse's self-employed status, or the death of the spouse.
.
This means that voluntary contributions made during the period when a person paid seasonal agricultural workers' income tax will be included in the pension capital.
.
We remind you that the law "Amendments to the Law "On State Social Insurance"" adopted by the Saeima on March 13, 2014 provides that from June 1, 2014, people who are employed in seasonal agricultural work and whose monthly income exceeds 70 euros will be subject to social insurance.
