Georgian livestock farmers visit Latvia as part of the Breedexpo project
From November 28 to December 1, Georgian livestock breeders visited us in Latvia as part of the Breedexpo project. On the first day of the visit, the faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of the Latvian Agricultural University were visited. The deans and teaching staff of both faculties introduced the offered study programs, toured the faculty premises and laboratories. After visiting both faculties, we went to the LLU training and research farm “Vecauce”, where the visitors were shown the dairy cows and young cattle sheds. On the second day of the visit, we went to see the dairy farm “Birzītes 1”, which mainly breeds red-brown cows and the cows born on this farm are also milked in Georgia. The visit of the Georgian livestock breeders ended with a visit to the farm “Nornieki”, where the owners introduced both meat goats and the secrets of breeding exotic ostriches.
