Insurance support in the coming years

Taking into account the concerns expressed by farmers' organizations regarding the information disseminated by certain brokerage companies that there will be no financing for insurance, the Ministry of Agriculture informs that the adoption of the CAP EU legislation for the planning period after 2020 has currently been delayed, which prevents the timely development and approval of the CAP Strategic Plans and the launch of the new planning period for 2021-2027.

In order to ensure continuity of support for farmers and other beneficiaries, a draft transitional regulation has been developed, which provides for the application of a transitional period to the Rural Development Programmes of the Member States. Accordingly, Latvia will also extend the existing Rural Development Programme by two years and will continue to implement the measure "Crop, Animal and Plant Insurance Premium" in 2021.
