June 20th Countryside Day on the use of acidified liquid manure

Continuing the activities of the project “Acidification of Liquid Manure in the Baltic Sea Region”, the Farmers' Council, together with the project's cooperation partners, organized field days in Īle (Auces municipality), at the Īle Culture House on June 20. The event provided an opportunity to learn about the first results of a demonstration in which a technology that has never been used in Latvia to fertilize crops – liquid manure acidification – was used.

The demonstration was set up at SIA “Lauku Agro”, where acidified manure was used to fertilize winter wheat, rye, corn and winter rapeseed. The field day will provide an opportunity to learn what manure acidification is and why this technology could also be useful for Latvian farmers. Learn about the first results obtained in the practical demonstration – the impact of acidification on ammonia emissions, agronomic and economic benefits of use. The demonstration field and the equipment used for acidification were inspected.

The field day was organized by the project "Acidification of Liquid Manure in the Baltic Sea Region", which is funded by the INTERREG Baltic Sea Region Programme.
