Host, support the student!
To help schoolchildren gain their first work experience and understanding of rural work, the Latvian Rural Consulting and Education Center (LLKC) is inviting farmers who could take on young people who want to work on their farms during the summer holidays.
Taking advantage of the fact that LLKC offices are located in all regions of Latvia, Interested farmers and schoolchildren aged 13 to 18 are invited to contact the regional offices of the Latvian Agricultural Council, to find out which employers would be willing to employ students during the summer holidays.
Baiba Bērziņa, project manager of the Rural Development Department of the Latvian Agricultural Research Centre, points out that, The goal is to bring both parties together either directly or by offering to register with the State Employment Agency (SEA), thereby receiving 50% co-financing from the state for the student's salary.
According to the legislation, students aged from 13–14 year olds can be employed four hours a day, 20 hours a week, while vin ecum from 15–18 years old 7 hours a day, 35 hours a week. For younger students is paid according to performance, while older students, when employed full-time, are required to The minimum monthly wage set by the country must be paid.
- If the owner wishes to employ a young person "directly", we invite you to send the LLKC the contact information of the farm and the field of activity in which the potential employee will be employed. In this case, the LLKC will bring the two together.
- In turn, if the owner wants to employ a young person through the SEA and receive additional funding from the state employee for the salary, please send the farm's contact information to the LLKC, where we will place it on a common list through which we will inform students about job opportunities. If you choose this option, the owner must go to the nearest SEA branch and register their company in the program "Employment measures during summer vacation for persons receiving education in general, special or vocational education institutions".
