On February 28, the association "Farmers' Assembly" was held in Pärnu and Estonian Chambers of Agriculture and Commerce The meeting of the monitoring group of the joint project “GreenAgri”. During the meeting, the members of the monitoring group approved 10 Latvian and 11 Estonian demonstration farms, where over the next three years Various types of organic manure management were observed and evaluated. The project aims to achieve sustainable resource use and reduce eutrophication of the Baltic Sea..

The following farms were selected for the “GreenAgri” pilot project:

• SIA “LLU MPS “Vecauce” (Auce municipality)
• SIA “Lukass Jumprava Agro” (Lielvarde district)
• Z/s “Bukas” (Dobele district)
• Z/s "Murkiši" (Ogres prov.)
• SIA "Gaižēni" (Priekuļi prov.)
• Z/s "Rubuļi" (Saldus Nov.)
• Z/s “Lielvaicēni” (Auces district)
• Z/s Robežnieki (Salavgrīva district)
• Z/s Veckūkuri (Strenču prov.)
• Mežoki village (Kuldiga district)

Over a three-year period, the selected farms, together with a team of experts, will develop an action plan to reduce nutrient losses from the demonstration field or grassland in accordance with the real needs of the farm (changes in crop rotation, intercropping, changes in manure spreading technologies, etc.). After the implementation of the activities, monitoring will be carried out to analyze soil, water, and yield indicators and draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the methods. As a result, the inflow of nutrients into the Baltic Sea will be reduced.

The conference was organized within the framework of the project "GreenAgri" CB272.

The project “GreenAgri” is co-financed by the Central Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014-2020.
