March 8 – webinar “Research results on the use of plant protection products”

In line with the European Green Deal and its component strategy “"From field to table", which mentions specific quantitative indicators that must be achieved in the European Union as a whole – by 2030, the consumption of plant protection products must be reduced by 50% and that of fertilizers by 20 %. The goal is to make food more organic, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions from land management. Consequently, agriculture must also change. The European Commission points out that the reduction of PPPs can be achieved by strengthening and applying the principles of integrated pest management in agriculture, using precision technologies and less hazardous substances.

 

The Ministry of Agriculture has commissioned the Latvian University of Biosciences and Technology to conduct research related to agricultural activities and plant protection products.
