The OPER8 project working group meeting took place in Latvia in October

An international expert meeting on alternative weed control solutions in agriculture was held in Latvia from 9 to 10 October. Representatives of non-governmental agricultural organizations, research and educational institutions from Greece, Italy, France, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Spain visited Latvia as part of the event.

October 9th we visited the vegetable farm "Bračas" (Allaži parish, Sigulda county), where we had the opportunity to watch a weeding robot in action, then we went to the fruit farm "Rīlādži" (Saltavota Street 30, Sigulda parish, Sigulda district), but at the end of the day we discussed alternative weed control methods in field crops in Latvia.

October 10 Project partners discussed the project's next steps to adapt and expand alternative weed control solutions and ensure their distribution across the EU, as well as to identify obstacles to the continued use of chemical weed control methods in practice.

"Farmers' Council" together with the LBTU Plant Protection Scientific Institute "Agrihorts" has participated in the project of the EU Research and Innovation Program "Horizon Europe" "OPER8"to find the most suitable alternative weed control methods for Latvia and gain experience from other European countries.
