October 7th – Field Day on Colostrum Quality, Nutrition and Management

On October 7, 9:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m., the Latvian Dairy Council, in collaboration with the dairy farm SIA “Vienotnes”, the Farmers' Council and AREI invite you to attend a demonstration field day on colostrum quality, feeding and management, switching from a tethered housing system to an untethered one, and milking with a robot.

AGENDA OF WORK

The field day will take place at the dairy cow barn “Mazbebri” in Stalbe parish, Pārgauja municipality.

During the field day, there will be an opportunity to learn about the progress and results of the demonstration, about the quality of colostrum and the specifics of feeding. Since the farm has recently built a new barn equipped with milking robots, DeLaval consultants will talk about the possibilities of robotization in family farms and how to prepare in time for the transition to living and working in such a barn. Farm manager Normunds Ruķis will present the achieved results and future strategy.
