January 24, 2017 seminar on drawing up fertilization plans
On January 24, a seminar on drawing up fertilization plans, including organic fertilizer, was held at the Latvian Agricultural Center.
Every farm should have a fertilization plan. A fertilization plan is a “production tool” that plans the desired yield level and, accordingly, the fertilization program to achieve this yield level. Fertilization plans have been mandatory for Zemgale farms since 2004. Currently, farms throughout Latvia should start getting used to fertilization planning, in connection with the requirements of integrated crop production.
Each farm can choose the model for its fertilization plan. It is important that the plan is feasible and not formal.
One of the tasks for the GreenAgri project farms is to draw up a fertilization plan, including the manure produced. What is the best way to do this? We invited professionals to the seminar, who introduced the basic principles and various methods of drawing up a fertilization plan.
At the seminar, Director of the Department of Agrochemistry of the Agricultural University of Latvia, Skaidrīte Rulle, emphasized the requirements of the Regulatory Acts for the use of fertilizers. In turn, Associate Professor of the Latvian Agricultural University Ināra Līpenīte spoke about the basic principles of integrated fertilization. Andris Skudra, Crop Production Consultant of the Latvian Agricultural University, introduced the development of a fertilization plan in the electronic application system (EPS) of the Latvian Agricultural University.
In the afternoon, there were presentations by the companies “EnAgro”, “AgTech”, Agricon” and an example of a fertilization plan from one of the demonstration farms – the “Lielvaicēni” farm. At the seminar, ZSA expert Iveta Grudovska presented the results of the organic manure analyses of the demonstration farms.
Agenda
The seminar was organized within the framework of the GreenAgri CB272 project.
