Reduces the administrative burden for developing agricultural land

On June 13, the government supported amendments prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture (MA) to the regulations that determine the procedure for setting up agricultural land in a forest, as well as issuing a permit for its setting up. The changes to the regulations are prepared to reduce the administrative burden for landowners who want to set up agricultural land in a forest.

In order to reduce the costs of deforestation for farmers, the changes to the regulations stipulate that in the future, local governments will not require the submission of a surveyor's layout plan for the forest land to be deforested if the development of agricultural land is planned in a plantation forest or the area intended for deforestation is compensated with an area of planted forest. In these cases, the landowner will only have to submit a sketch of the forest land to be deforested for the purpose of calculating compensation for the negative consequences caused by deforestation.

Changes to the rules will enter into force after their publication in the official publication "Latvijas Vēstnesis". on the websiteMore information on amendments to the Regulations No. 118 of March 5, 2013 “Procedures for the establishment of agricultural land in forests, as well as the issuance of permits for its establishment” is available at the Cabinet of Ministers. on the website.
