Advance payments of EU support payments to farmers will begin
In order to alleviate farmers' financial difficulties and cash flow problems caused by the unfavorable milk market situation, the Ministry of Agriculture informs:
• November 2 The Rural Support Service will begin paying the advance payment of the single area payment to farmers in the amount of 70%.
• Starting November 15th, the Latvian State Revenue Service will begin paying an advance payment of 85% for areas with natural or other specific constraints for 2015 support applications.
Starting this year December 1, the RSS will start paying the full amount of voluntary coupled support for dairy cows to farmers who meet the eligibility conditions. The remaining direct payments are planned to be paid in the first quarter of 2016.
The Ministry of Agriculture reiterates that advance payments will not be granted in cases where responses to RSS letters have not been received and disputes related to over-declaration of areas and cases of double declaration have not been resolved.
