Within its competence, the RSS represents the interests of farmers in court.

Rural Support Service (RSS), according to Rural Support Service Law Article 4, paragraph one, clause 4 and the law “On settlements with producers of unprocessed agricultural products” Article 5, within the scope of its competence, represents farmers interests in court. The farmer submits RSSin the regional agricultural administration application with a request to represent its interests in court, attaching all documents related to the case. The regional agricultural department of the RSS evaluates the application with a request to represent the interests of the farmer in court and makes a decision to provide or refuse representation, which is notified in writing to the applicant. After the decision to provide representation of the interests of the farmer in court, the regional agricultural department of the RSS prepares and submits an application to the court.

Example of a situation: A farmer enters into a contract with a milk buyer, which stipulates both the amount of payment per liter of milk and the deadline for which the buyer pays the farmer for the milk delivered. The situation is good, the buyer pays for the delivered milk within the specified deadlines. After some time, the situation changes - the buyer does not pay the money, although the farmer has delivered the milk in the appropriate quality. The farmer discusses the situation with the buyer, but does not find a solution and does not receive the money.

In such a case, you can contact the regional agricultural department of the Latvian Agricultural Service and ask them to represent the farmer in court.

Important!

– The farmer must be a producer of unprocessed agricultural products, such as milk, meat. It is not possible to apply in cases where the farmer sells processed products, such as bread.

-First, the farmer should try to find a solution to the problem himself, try to reach an agreement with the buyer. Often, a solution can be found through mutual negotiations.

– In order for the RSS to be able to assist, documents related to the delivery of the product (contract, delivery notes, etc.) must be submitted, and detailed information about the situation must be provided.
