"Emergency Brigade" sets its first goals
Today, February 11, the milk producer expert group of the "Farmers' Assembly" association, or the "Emergency Brigade" established last week, came to its first meeting to develop a plan for further action.
The situation in the dairy sector continues to deteriorate and there is no sign that it will improve in the near future. The drop in milk procurement prices, compared to August 2014, is currently almost 40 %, therefore, today the first meeting of the milk "Emergency Brigade" took place, where dairy farmers decided to send a letter to the European Union Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan with a call to grant additional support to dairy producers from the European Union's agricultural crisis fund. Farmers also expressed confusion about the delay in the disbursement of the 7.7 million euros of European Union support granted on November 18, 2014.
At the end of the meeting, the farmers agreed to cooperate more closely not only with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, but also to involve experts from the Ministry of Economics in order to jointly organize the internal milk market and develop new markets.
We remind you that last week, on February 4, the "Emergency Brigade" of the ZSA dairy group was established, whose task is to work in an operational mode to assess the situation in the dairy sector and offer optimal solutions.
