The Association "Farmers' Parliament" and the State Revenue Service renew cooperation
On June 11, we met with Baiba Šmita-Roķi, Director General of the State Revenue Service, to discuss cooperation in the field of tax administration and promotion of fair competition.
The result of the meeting is a signed cooperation agreement, which confirms our common goal of strengthening the principles of fair competition and creating a more favorable environment for the growth of the Latvian agricultural sector.
Chairman of the Board of the Association “Farmers' Parliament” Juris Lazdinš stresses the importance of cooperation in building a stronger agricultural sector: “As the leading farmers’ representative organization in Latvia, we are pleased to continue our cooperation with the SRS. Agriculture is one of the cornerstones of the Latvian economy, so it is important to continue our mutually constructive and supportive cooperation. Open dialogue often helps to identify and anticipate problems, thus doing everything together to improve farmers’ opportunities to compete in local and international markets.”
“The concluded cooperation agreement with the “Farmers' Council” confirms our common goal of strengthening the principles of fair competition and creating a more favorable environment for the growth of the Latvian agricultural sector,” emphasizes SRS Director General Baiba Šmite-Roķe.
Within the framework of the concluded cooperation agreement, the association “Zemnieku saeima” undertakes to carry out informative measures aimed at fulfilling the obligation of its members – to pay taxes, duties and other mandatory payments set by the state within the established deadline and in full. The association also undertakes to provide the SRS with information on the methods that individual merchants use to evade taxes and related violations, as well as to carry out the necessary activities to organize the financial and tax activities of the sector.
The SRS, taking into account the information provided by the association “Zemnieku saeima”, undertakes to develop and use effective tax administration methods in order to implement the purpose of this Agreement. The SRS undertakes to use the information provided by the association on tax evasion in the tax administration process, considering that the information provided has a high degree of reliability. The SRS also undertakes to inform the association about changes in regulatory enactments in the field of taxes, as well as about the latest SRS practice in the application of legal acts and new SRS services.
The agreement comes into force on the date of its mutual signing and is concluded for an indefinite period. The previous cooperation agreement between the SRS and the association "Zemnieku saeima" was valid from 21.10.2020 to 31.12.2023.
