"Farmers' Council" joins the ranks of LTRK members to jointly address important issues in the national economy
The association "Farmers' Council", representing productive farmers, has joined the large group of members of the largest Latvian business association, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LTRK), to jointly address issues important to entrepreneurs in the national economy.
“Considering the difficult political situation – the move towards the European Green Deal, climate neutrality and other new European policy activities that pose challenges for Latvian entrepreneurs, it is extremely important to promote broader representation of farmers’ interests. With two strong business support organizations cooperating, Latvia has greater opportunities to positively influence global politics and not lose competitiveness in European and world markets,” believes the Chairman of the Board of the “Farmers’ Parliament” association Juris Lazdiņš.
The organizations representing Latvian entrepreneurs currently have many common goals, which can be more easily achieved by working in a coordinated manner, both by identifying business risks and by putting forward demands to policymakers, points out the Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Janis Endzins.
"To help entrepreneurs better understand the conditions for implementing the Green Deal, as well as identify the challenges they will face on this not-so-easy path, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will establish a Green Deal Think Tank at the end of this year. Since companies operating in the agricultural sector also play an important role in the implementation of the Green Deal, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry expects "active involvement of representatives of the association "Farmers' Council" both in discussions and in shaping the agenda of decision-makers," says J. Endziņš.
The Association “Farmers’ Council” is the most influential non-governmental organization uniting farmers in Latvia, which unites more than 800 members representing all agricultural sectors. Members manage more than 662,000 ha of agricultural land, employing more than 6,000 employees on farms. The main goal of the Association “Farmers’ Council” is to represent the interests of Latvian farmers, to involve them in legislative processes at the national and European Union levels, and to advocate for the stable and sustainable development of the agricultural sector in Latvia.
LTRK is the most influential cross-sectoral business organization in Latvia, which has already united almost 6,000 members. Every month, an average of 50 new members join LTRK – companies and associations of various sectors and sizes.
