The association "Farmers' Council" invites you to attend a seminar on the latest technologies for greenhouses, gardens and fields

This year, on October 4, the association “Farmers' Council” invites you to attend the seminar “New technologies for Latvian greenhouses, gardens and fields”. The seminar will take place at the exhibition complex “Rāmava”, Izstažu iela 11, Valdlauči, Ķekava municipality. Starts at 2:00 p.m.

Aigars Miglāns, member of the board of SIA “AMOzoli”, said: “In recent years, both in Latvia and in Europe, farmers have increasingly chosen covered areas for farming – tunnels and greenhouses, where a wide variety of crops are grown. In changing weather conditions, covered areas allow farmers to control processes by providing appropriate lighting, humidity levels, heat, etc. As a result, farmers can ensure the predicted yield and fulfill contractual obligations with cooperation partners. Also, tunnels and greenhouses are one of the options for profitable production if the farmer has a small area of land at his disposal. At the seminar, I will talk about the latest trends in Europe, as well as irrigation equipment in covered areas and in the open field. I invite both existing industry professionals, future farmers and all interested parties to attend the seminar!”

Juris Cīrulis, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Association “Farmers' Council”: "In recent years, agriculture has seen both a shortage of workers and a demand for agricultural land. Land is becoming increasingly expensive, as a result of which every farmer wants to manage their fields as efficiently and productively as possible. The shortage of workers on farms also forces farmers to look for solutions in the latest technologies. We will talk about all this - how to farm efficiently on small areas and with minimal employee involvement and be able to compete with other European countries - at a seminar in early October. We hope that our seminar will encourage new farmers to focus on the industry and convince existing farmers to try their hand at a new - additional sector!"

In the first part of the seminar, Aigars Miglāns, a member of the board of the company “AM Ozoli”, will inform about the latest trends in the covered areas industry and why covered areas are and will become increasingly popular in the world. Next, Tom Zöllner, the general secretary of the association “FarmTech Society”, will talk about hydroponic technologies and what are the future solutions for effective gardening. The seminar will be concluded and the experiment: “Water quality and meteorological sensors – an experiment on the farm Vilciņi – 1” will be informed by its implementation team: Inga Bērziņa and Ilze Bargā from the association “Zemnieku saeima”, Ainis Lagzdiņš from the Latvian University of Agriculture and Arnis Burmistris – the owner of the farm “Vilciņi-1”.
