The Farmers' Council signs a cooperation agreement with the farmers' insurance cooperative VEREINIGTE HAGEL
On July 15, the management of the association "Zemnieku saeima" and representatives of LPKS "LATRAPS" met with the management of the farmers' insurance cooperative "VEREINIGTE HAGEL" to sign a cooperation agreement and discuss current events in the agricultural sector.
Maira Dzelzkalēja-Burmistre, Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of the Association “Farmers' Council”: "Agriculture is a business where you have to be able to cope with changing weather conditions, but in many cases the farmer is powerless. Therefore, insurance is the most effective way to significantly reduce risks and losses to farms caused by natural disasters. Our experience so far shows that crop insurance can protect against major losses, which is why we continue to choose to cooperate with a reliable company – VEREINIGTE HAGEL, which has been supporting Latvian farmers for more than 10 years."
Vita Baumane, Head of Crop Insurance at the Agricultural Services Cooperative Society “LATRAPS”: "We foresee that closer cooperation between two strong organizations representing the interests of farmers will bring even greater benefits in the future. This cooperation will allow access to European and global risk management thinking and trends, which are very important in the current changing circumstances. We will also be able to express the interests of Latvian farmers in a much more targeted manner at the European level."
UNITED HAIL is the leading farmers' mutual insurance cooperative on the European market and offers the best terms for crop insurance. The international farmers' mutual insurance cooperative VEREINIGTE HAGEL (VH Latvija) entered Latvia in 2012. LATRAPS and VH Latvijas have set the development of crop insurance as an important long-term goal to enable farmers to reduce losses caused by climate risks.
