The first meeting of the HORIZON project AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB partners took place
From January 23-24, the first meeting of partners of the HORIZON project AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB: Excellence Hub for a Smart Agriculture and Circular Bioeconomy Towards a Sustainable Agrifood Sector in Widening Countries (and Beyond) will take place in the Polish city of Poznań with participants from Latvia, Belgium, Poland, Spain and Ukraine.
The first day of the meeting was opened by a project officer from the European Commission, who congratulated the project on receiving the highest rating among all approved Excellence Hub projects. He also emphasized the importance of achieving the project's goals and informing the wider public.
During the first day, each partner (21 in total) introduced their institution, its role and planned contribution to the project. The remaining time of both days was dedicated to discussing the tasks and deliverables of each work package (WP1-10).
AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB is a first-of-its-kind initiative aiming to create a world-class network of centres of excellence in the circular bioeconomy sector of the agricultural sector. The project aims to unlock the potential of four regional innovation ecosystems in three enlargement countries – Poland, Latvia and Ukraine, including the emerging innovation ecosystem in the Lviv region (Ukraine) with the support of the leading region of the sector – Catalonia (EU), as a model of good practice.
By collaborating and building strong links between science, business, public administration and civil society, we want to connect three European regions with similar obstacles and opportunities — Northern Europe, Central Europe and Eastern Europe — to address the challenges of the green transition in this sector, including ensuring the convergence of the emerging ecosystem (Ukraine) with the EU ambitions and green standards. The AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB aims to unlock the potential of the bioeconomy and agricultural sectors that can combine the need for efficiency and productivity, while preserving the environment, biodiversity and natural resources.
Latvian ecosystem partners: Latvian Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics (AREI), Latvian Investment and Development Agency, SIA “Egg Energy”, non-governmental organizations “Latvian Biogas Association” and “Farmers' Parliament”, company SIA “FNG INVEST” or Commercialization Reactor.
