The leadership of the Farmers' Parliament discusses current issues in the agricultural sector with the Prime Minister

On June 16, representatives of the Farmers' Parliament met with Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš to discuss current events in the agricultural sector. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Finance Jānis Reirs.

Chairman of the Board of the Farmers' Assembly Juris Lazdins: "Thank you to Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš for today's meeting, during which we had the opportunity to discuss current events in the agricultural sector. During the meeting, we drew the Prime Minister's attention to the conditions of the new EU planning period, including achieving the goals of the Green Deal, which will be a great challenge for Latvian farmers. One of the solutions to achieve these goals is precisely smart technologies, which farmers have planned to implement through the IMA project round. Therefore, in the conversation, we called for finding opportunities to support as many of these "green" investment projects as possible.

During the conversation, we also explained to the Prime Minister the situation in the sector, taking into account the geopolitical situation and the increase in raw material prices, as well as discussed the issue of risk management in agriculture and the possibilities for the state to continue supporting the purchase of insurance policies at the current level."
