The Nature Conservation Board invites applications for inspection of BVZ

Mapping of protected habitats throughout Latvia will begin in 2016. Experts will go out into nature and inventory forests, bogs, outcrops, waters and grasslands. In Latvia, 10 grassland habitats have been recognized as protected – biologically valuable grasslands, for the management of which farmers can qualify for support payments under the sub-measure “Maintenance of biodiversity in grasslands” of the 2004-2020 Rural Development Programme measure “Agroenvironment”. Mapping will continue until autumn 2019.

To include, as far as possible, grasslands whose compliance with the status of biologically valuable grassland has never been verified in the mandatory areas, i.e. the owner has never applied for verification and they are not green or red blocks On the website of the Rural Support Service, The Nature Conservation Authority is inviting landowners to submit such grasslands for inspection.

Landowners can send their applications to the Nature Conservation Board until May 15 of this year.
