We put forward demands to the Minister of the ZSA to resolve the problem. 

Chairman of the Association "Farmers' Council" Juris Lazdins: "During our meeting with the Minister of Economy, Arvils Asheraden, we indicated that we do not oppose the OIC reform, but we oppose the principles and methodology of how it is being implemented, and we raised two main demands.

First, cancel the fee for amperes of the mandatory power procurement component. This is an incorrect payment, because consumers already pay one payment for the amount of current. In addition, the fee for amperes for the existing payment has increased threefold over the past two years – in 2016 we paid 0.27 euros for one ampere, while in 2018 they are already 0.70 – 0.90 euros.

Secondly, we were not satisfied with the offer disconnect the electricity meter at the facility for a period of up to 6 months. AS “Sadales tīkls” and the Public Utilities Commission promised to start work on amendments to the regulatory framework so that the capacity at the facility could be partially reduced or disconnected for a period of up to 9 months. “Sadales tīkls” also pledged to build another electricity connection for entrepreneurs free of charge.

Although the meeting was constructive and the ministry is ready for compromises, we do not rule out the possibility of demanding the resignation of the Minister of Economics at our congress on March 9. During the week, representatives of the Ministry of Economics will summarize our proposals and the next meeting will take place on Friday. We hope that a specific action plan for implementing changes will be outlined next week!”
