We invite you to the exhibition RĀMAVĀ! September 27 – ZSA presentation and discussion series

On September 26, 27 and 28, the agricultural business exhibition "BILTIM TEHNIKA 2024" will take place at the RĀMAVA business center - everything current about crop production, animal husbandry, and horticulture!

As part of the event, on September 27 at 14:00-16:00, the Farmers' Council will participate in the presentation and discussion series "Land reclamation yesterday, today and tomorrow - the main challenges in Latvia!". What happens when existing systems cannot cope with water drainage? How do the Land Reclamation Systems and LVM manage them? What future do European policies predict for land reclamation systems? How to balance the drainage of excess water, water shortages during drought periods and environmental challenges? We will talk about all this at the Farmers' Council seminar during the BILTIM TEHNIKA 2024 exhibition. We will discuss future plans and intentions in the field of land reclamation, as well as get acquainted with the lessons learned in the "LIFE GoodWater IP" project.

AGENDA OF THE DISCUSSION:

14:00-16:00 “Land reclamation yesterday, today and tomorrow – the main challenges in Latvia!” – a series of presentations and discussions in collaboration with the association “Farmers' Assembly” (ZSA). The cycle is led by Mārtiņš Trons, member of the Board of the Latvian Academy of Sciences.

   •  “Current issues in the maintenance of state drainage systems and flood risk mitigation”. Māris Muižnieks, Chairman of the Board of the State LLC “Ministry of Agriculture Real Estate”.

   •  “LVM's experience in maintaining forest drainage systems”. Kaspars Kristiņš, AS “Latvijas valsts meži”, Infrastructure Facilities Maintenance Manager.

   •  "The most common mistakes farmers make in maintaining drainage systems." Valdemārs Dambekalns, SIA “Dambekalna tehnika”, member of the board.

   •  "EU's plans for restoring the natural moisture regime - what does it mean for Latvia?" Ilze Ozola, Chairwoman of the Board of the Association “Lake and Bog Research Center”.
