What is the importance of AdBlue quality and how to evaluate it?

AdBlue is a urea solution that helps reduce emissions from diesel vehicles. Urea molecules neutralize harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx), converting them into water and nitrogen. This significantly reduces the damage caused by the vehicle to the environment. Using poor-quality or lower-quality AdBlue not only increases harmful emissions, but also damages the equipment.

 

Nature

The reduction of harmful emissions is based on a chemical process, where the precise concentration and purity of the elements are of great importance. Only high-quality AdBlue is able to fully perform its function, neutralizing harmful nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases. AdBlue is non-toxic and basically consists of ammonia and water.

 

Vehicle repair costs

Using poor or lower quality AdBlue damages the exhaust gas aftertreatment system (SCR) – its repair can be expensive, and disabling the system can lead to disruption of the cooling system. The quality of AdBlue also has an impact on the engine's lifespan.

Production

Gaschema carries out the full production process – from ammonia extraction to the finished product. The entire process takes place in a closed, strictly controlled environment at the factory, thus AZO AdBlue is obtained from liquefied urea (not already processed, for example, into granules, which can create additional quality-affecting risks), which ensures consistently high quality and reliability. Gaschema is the only manufacturer in the Baltics to have received a VDA (German Road Transport Federation) perpetual license.

 

Transportation

Gaschema has its own fleet of vehicles specially adapted for the transportation of AdBlue in accordance with ISO 22241-3 transportation requirements. –  Therefore, it is possible to ensure not only prompt delivery throughout Latvia, but also proper transportation conditions to maintain the excellent quality of the product.

 

Storage

Gaschema offers specialized equipment and tanks with capacities from 1 to 30,000 liters – according to each need. High-quality equipment is very important, as the urea solution is sensitive to dust and direct sunlight (concentration changes when evaporated).

 

How to make sure you are using quality AdBlue?

  • The solution is completely transparent, clear, usually colored sky blue.
  • No sediment or cloudiness.
  • No dust, sand or any other foreign objects.
  • There is a slight smell of ammonia, but it is not noticeable or pungent.
  • When delivered in IBC 1000L containers, they are closed and sealed.
  • Each AdBlue package (can, barrel, container) is labeled, ensuring traceability and guaranteeing quality.
