YouCooperate Fall Activities and Cooperative Course (still available)
As part of the YouCooperate project, a digital course on cooperatives in agriculture has been created in collaboration with all project partners. The course has been carefully designed to provide young people with all the necessary information about the nature, establishment and development of cooperatives, but at the same time – in a way that makes the information easy and quick to perceive and learn.
The course consists of three modules:
1. Cooperative identity and system (why cooperatives are needed and how they work)
2. Starting a Cooperative Business
3. Cooperative development
The modules include interesting presentations with theoretical information, videos with real experience stories from cooperatives in different fields and countries, as well as various tests and tasks to better remember what you have learned.
The course is available on the platform youcooperate.eu and anyone interested can and is welcome to take it. To get started, go to the platform and register. Then choose the first module and – go ahead! To make it easier to navigate, first watch the presentation about starting the course –If something is unclear on the platform, then – There is a video instruction manual that provides instructions for using the platform.
To inform about the availability of the courses and test the use of the platform, in the fall of 2021 (September and October), we invited all young people in Latvia who are studying agricultural education at the vocational secondary education level to take the course at the same time. About 50 young people responded to the invitation, of which about 30 completed the course in full. The young people were helped by enthusiastic teachers, and consultations were also available. The course involves developing cooperative business plans in groups, which four Latvian groups successfully did. All students who developed business plans received gifts at the end of the project.
Now that the platform has been successfully tested, the course is available to everyone for individual use or inclusion in the curriculum. If you would like to familiarize yourself with the course materials separately, without using the platform (where all the tasks must be completed sequentially), please contact Dārtas Gāteris at darta@zsa.lv.
