ZSA: Farmers will jointly seek a solution to the crisis in the dairy industry

On Thursday, March 24, the association "Farmers' Council" (ZSA) will participate in a meeting organized by the Ministry of Agriculture on solutions to the dairy industry crisis, as well as in a presentation of a study by the think tank "CERTUS" and a discussion on the development opportunities of the dairy industry.

The price of milk that farmers receive for their products continues to decline, as a result of which the situation in the dairy sector is becoming increasingly tense. In order to jointly seek solutions and identify further actions to overcome the situation, the Minister of Agriculture J.Dūklavs, members of the Advisory Council of Farmers' Non-Governmental Organizations and leaders of the milk working groups will meet in a joint meeting.
The ZSA will call on the Minister of Agriculture J.Dūklavas to address the Prime Minister M.Kučinskis with an appeal to seek possible support for farmers affected by the crisis from the European Commission and Latvia's internal reserves. The above is especially relevant at the beginning of the spring work season. This is the moment when farmers must make crucial decisions about their further actions.
At the same time, the Farmers' Council believes that, in addition to financial support, complex measures to stabilize the situation of milk producers must be immediately sought and implemented, which will also be decided at Thursday's meeting.
