ZSA participated in a press conference on reducing VAT on food
On August 31, ZSA Board Member Mārtiņš Trons participated in a press conference on reducing VAT on fresh food. The event updated and provided a more detailed explanation of the need for the initiative “Reducing VAT on food products”, the impact of the VAT rate on the Latvian economy, local producers and residents.

Member of the Board of Directors of the Latvian Association of Social Workers M. Trons: "Our main duty as Latvian farmers is to provide society with high-quality, fresh and healthy food. We believe that reducing the VAT rate to 51% for fresh meat, fresh fish, eggs, and dairy products would be one of the most effective ways to make these products more accessible to the public, thereby improving the daily eating habits of society. Reducing the VAT rate for this group of products would not only increase the consumption of these products, but would also reduce the shadow economy and ensure that more of the money spent stays here in Latvia. We urge those who have not yet voted for this initiative to do so!"
We also invite ZSA members to cast their vote and sign this initiative!
