ZSA seminar “What awaits us in the field of plant health in horticulture” 09.02.2021.

On February 9, the ZSA seminar “What awaits us in the field of plant health in horticulture” was held remotely. At the seminar, ZSA Board Vice-Chairperson Maira Dzelzkalēja-Burmistre and foreign policy expert Valters Zelčs presented the challenges of the near future for farmers. Jūlija Sebeleva, Senior Inspector of the Phytosanitary Surveillance Division of the Plant Quarantine Department of the State Plant Protection Service, spoke about the requirements of regulatory enactments for the distribution of seeds and seedlings in Latvia, as well as about plant passports. In the continuation of the seminar, Marīte Gailīte, an expert from the “Latvijas dārznieks” association, spoke about the risks of plant protection in horticulture and harmful organisms that threaten fruits and vegetables in neighboring countries and that are approaching Latvia. At the end of the seminar, ZSA project manager Inga Bērziņa presented the LIVERUR RAIN model.
