CODECS: Digital ecosystems for the common good of agricultural digitization

Name: Maximising the co-benefits of agricultural digitalisation through conducive digital ecosystems (CODECS)

Source of funding: EU Research and Innovation Programme “Horizon Europe” project. Contract No. 101060179

Total funding: EUR 7,499,707/ EUR 106,225 ZSA funding

Implementation time: 01.10.2022-30.09.2026 (4 years)

Coordinator: University of Pisa (Italy)

Partners: 33 partners from 18 countries: France, Italy, Hungary, Belgium, Greece, Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, North Macedonia, Estonia, Poland, Spain, Netherlands and Latvia.

Purpose: The overall objective of the project is to improve the motivation and ability of European farmers to understand and use digitalization as an enabler of sustainable change.

Planned results to be achieved: By collaborating with scientists, farmers, IT specialists, politicians, local government representatives, and citizens, CODECS project partners will test and demonstrate various digital solutions in 21 Living Labs. The CODECS digital platform will compile these solutions and make them available with various search, demonstration, and evaluation functions. The project will study the use of digital technologies, their associated costs and benefits, using three indicators – farmers’ digital preparedness, technology diffusion readiness, and digital ecosystem promotion. As part of the project, the Latvian Farmers’ Council, in collaboration with researchers from the Baltic Studies Center, will continue what was started in the DESIRA project – promoting beef trade using digital tools.
