SmartAgriHubs
SmartAgriHub project – Connecting the dots to unleash the innovation potential for digital transformation of the European agri-food sector
The goal of the SmartAgriHubs project: to accelerate the digital transformation of the European agri-food sector. The project will consolidate, activate and expand the existing ecosystem by creating a network of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHi) that will promote the use of digital solutions in the agricultural sector. This will be achieved through local one-stop shops, integrating technology and business support, involving all regions and all key European actors. The project hub consists of 28 key innovation experiments that will demonstrate digital innovations in agriculture, promoted by 9 regional clusters of DIHi from all EU Member States. At the same time, SmartAgriHubs will improve the quality of DIHi services so that digital innovations can be replicated across Europe and widely used by farmers across Europe. A multi-actor approach (multi-actor approach), which focuses on user acceptability, stakeholder engagement and sustainable business models, will drive the level of technology and market readiness and ensure user adoption to the next level. This will be enhanced thanks to the synergy between SmartAgriHubs and the implementation of RIS3 or smart specialisation. SmartAgriHubs will operate in a closed loop between European regions to maximise the return on European investments, including regional structural funds and private capital.
Open calls with a total budget of ~6 million EUR will expand the network and ensure that DIH's service portfolio includes technological developments and new challenges in the agri-food sector. The inclusive structure and ambitious goals of SmartAgriHubs will bring together the entire European ecosystem, connecting the dots and ensuring Europe's global leadership in the AgTech market.
The consortium, with Wageningen Research and other experienced partners from previous projects (IoF2020, FIWARE, S3P Agri-Food and I4MS), will leverage the existing ecosystem to guarantee maximum return on investment for European taxpayers and a vital agri-food sector that produces sufficient and safe food for future generations.
