Latvian Environmental Protection Fund Project “Promotion of Environmental Requirements Adoption in Agricultural Enterprises” (08.2007 – 12.2007)

The goal of the project was to promote practical implementation of EU and Latvian environmental regulations, particularly Nitrate Directive, Integrated Pollution Diminishing and Control Directive, Latvian Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No 531 un 628, and Action Plan for Environmentally Sensitive Territories.

Within the project 3000 informative handbooks on environmental requirements for crop and animal farms were developed, printed and distributed.

Five training seminars on environmental requirements for 220 farmers took place in Riga, Bauska, Jelgava, Dobele and Limbazi districts.

A conference was conducted to provide opportunities for information exchange on the subject, as well as to inform the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture, and other government institutions, on the project conclusions and needed improvements in the legislative framework.

The project was funded by Latvian Environmental Protection Fund: LVL 9988.
