Conference at the Ministry of Agriculture: "Latvian dairy farming as a competitive sector of the national economy"

To discuss the development prospects of the Latvian dairy industry, new challenges and opportunities in the context of the Russian crisis, the Latvian Agricultural Cooperatives Association (LLKA) is organizing a conference on December 11th."Latvian Dairy Industry as a Competitive Sector of the National Economy", to which you are invited Representatives of dairy cooperatives, as well as dairy farmers from all over Latvia. 

A number of specialists have been invited to participate in the conference, who will share their vision of the future of the industry, in order to look at dairy farming as an industry with high potential and development opportunities. Economist Pēteris Strautiņš will speak about the strengths and opportunities of the dairy industry, as well as the impact of the Russian embargo, while new cooperation opportunities in China will be presented by Chairman of the Latvian-Chinese Business Council Artis Kampars. About eThe conference participants will be addressed by the Rector of the Latvian University of Agriculture, Irina Pilvere, on the possibilities of efficient management in the dairy sector in Latvia, while necessary changes for the long-term competitive development of the industry will introduce Anita Skudra, Chairwoman of the Board of SIA "Latvijas Piens".

Ilze Aizsilniece, Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairwoman of the Board of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Piena ceļš": "The time has come to explore new markets and use the crisis as an opportunity, and many dairy companies are already doing it brilliantly. I believe that dairy farming can be a competitive industry in Latvia as well, but we must be able to agree among ourselves, only by working together can we be serious players in the global market. Therefore, I think this is the right moment to start cooperation and do things much more rationally in this way!"

Conference "Latvian Dairying as a Competitive Sector of the National Economy" will take place on December 11th from 10:00-17:30 (participant registration from 9:00) in Riga, Republikas laukums 2, Hall 2 of the Ministry of Agriculture.
