Congress of the Association "Farmers' Parliament"

This year, on March 9, the annual congress of the association “Farmers' Council” will take place at Bulduri Horticultural Secondary School, which will bring together farmers from all over Latvia. At the congress, the organization's management will inform about the achievements in 2017 and jointly set goals for the coming years. The congress will also feature the launch of the book “Bread of Power” written by “Farmers' Council” and writer Ilze Būmane.

The annual congress of the “Farmers' Council” is a point of reference where farmers evaluate the work done in the development of the sector and determine the priorities for the next year. In the first part of the congress, the chairman of the “Farmers' Council” Juris Lazdiņš will report on the work done in 2017, as well as discuss the work to be done in 2018 with the members of the organization and determine the main goals. The Minister of Agriculture Jānis Dūklavs will participate in the congress, who will inform about current events in the sector and provide answers to questions of interest to farmers.

The second part of the congress will feature the opening ceremony of the book "Strength Bread" written by the "Farmers' Assembly" and writer Ilze Būmane.

Ilze Boomane: “In the book of the Farmers’ Parliament “Bread of Power” you will read about the work of 133 farms and enterprises, the lives of these families. But mainly it tells about the revival of the countryside of the restored Latvian state. Small farms in the late 1980s, dilapidated ancestral homes – that was the beginning. Almost 20 years have passed, it is a time when a new generation grows up, and indeed – educated sons and daughters of farmers return to their parents’ farms or establish their own. During this time, Latvian farmers have learned to create strong farms that produce export goods, we have returned to the European and world markets again."
