Regional conference of the Ministry of Agriculture in Talsi

The Ministry of Agriculture (MA) and the Latvian Rural Consulting and Education Centre (LLKC) invite farmers, entrepreneurs and residents of Kurzeme to attend the conference "Strong regions, strong country!" The conference will take place on Wednesday, March 27, at the Talsi Community Center at Lielāja Street 19/21. Minister Kaspars Gerhards: “The conference is planned to be held as a broad discussion among farmers, rural entrepreneurs and all other active regional residents on the priority directions of rural development in Latvia. In addition to Brussels regulations, there are many processes that we can determine ourselves at the national level. So that the decisions made, including the regulatory framework, are formed in accordance with the current needs of the agricultural sector. It is important to hear the opinion and vision of regional residents and entrepreneurs, to understand the problems, so that the state can take action. That is why the participation of farmers, rural entrepreneurs and residents is necessary, because the new Rural Development Program for 2021-2027 must include all our priorities - more efficient and competitive farming, which will increase income and well-being, as well as ensuring generational renewal, without which the future of Latvian rural areas is unimaginable".

 

The aim of the conference is to discuss with farmers, entrepreneurs and residents the future development of Latvian regions after 2020 – in the next EU planning period from 2021 to 2027. The Minister of Agriculture Kaspars Gerhards, as well as experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Rural Support Service and the Latvian Chamber of Agriculture will participate in the discussions of the conference “Strong regions, strong country!”

 

The conference is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Latvian Academy of Sciences. Participation in the conference is free of charge.

 

The conferences “Strong regions, strong country!” will also be held this spring in Latgale, Vidzeme and Zemgale, which the Ministry of Agriculture and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce will inform about separately.
