

Seminar on forest development
On January 27, the Forest Program seminar of the Latvian State Forestry Institute "Silava" will take place in the Small Hall of the Alūksne Cultural Center, Brūža Street 7, where interested parties will be able to learn about the economic value of forests, the importance of land reclamation, the diversity of natural capital, and ecosystem processes.
Registration for the seminar participants will begin at 9:30, but at 10:00 the Forest Program will be presented by its head, Māris Liopa. From 10:10 the Director of LVMI “Silava” Dr. silv. Jurģis Jansons will inform about the necessity of increasing the economic value of forests, development of economic justification, forest assessment, ecology and typology, and the impact of forest cultivation on the future value of forests.
Later, from 12:00, the seminar participants will be introduced to the importance of land reclamation in increasing forest productivity, the installation of land reclamation systems and the impact of renovation on the environment by leading researcher Dr. silv. Zane Lībiete. At the end of the day, from 1:35 PM, Z. Lībiete will tell seminar visitors about the diversity and use of natural capital, ecosystem processes, functions and services, as well as the impact of forestry activities on the environment.
We invite everyone who owns a forest and wants to learn about the latest information on forest care, development, and increasing forest productivity to attend the seminar. Participation in the seminar is free of charge.
